Biosearch Consulting provides independent advice and assistance to government, industry and professional organisations on food and chemical safety matters. It is based in Canberra and its director is Dr Peter Abbott, who has 23 years experience in food and chemical regulation within the Australian Government.

Services provided include:

• advice on the safety and regulation of food and chemicals
• peer review of scientific reports on chemicals
• assistance with applications for new food ingredients
• evaluation of toxicological data on chemicals and drugs
• literature research on emerging food and chemical risks.

Cadman Editing

Cadman Editing is run by Hilary Cadman, who was a senior science editor with Biotext for 10 years before starting her freelance company in 2009. Hilary still works closely with Biotext on many projects as a subcontractor.

Hilary has a strong background in science, and is accredited as a technical editor with the Australian Institute of Professional Editors, the World Health Organization and the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS. She is also certified by the Board of Editors in the Life Sciences (BELS) in the United States.

Hilary is a keen environmental advocate and aims to reduce her environmental footprint by reducing, reusing and recycling.

Design Direction

Design Direction brings 20 years of experience to the graphic design industry in Canberra, and services a diverse client base consisting of government, private sector and not-for-profit organisations. Their small, highly skilled team of designers, supported by a network of professional service providers, is dedicated to producing creative solutions that both look good and work well.

Econnect Communication

Econnect Communication communicates science, in particular science that relates to natural resource management and the environment. They aim to change the way people think and act about science and environment communication by:

• helping plan activities that reflect the need for awareness, information, knowledge, interaction, participation, and/or change in behaviour or attitudes
• telling stories through creative use of media articles, publications, newsletters, web content, exhibitions, photography and audio-visual products
• training scientists and those involved in science to communicate their work confidently and enthusiastically.

Papercut

Papercut offer a wide range of creative services including graphic design, web design and development, brand development, concept and strategy development, and print management. Secretariat Australia

Secretariat Australia is a Canberra-based company offering comprehensive secretariat services for committees, councils, associations and government review processes, including coordination of stakeholder comment (submissions) and hearings, research, technical writing and report production. They also manage private meetings, workshops, symposiums and public hearings. Other services include management of grants and awards processes; organisation of tours, visits and inspections; secretariat process mapping, needs analysis and performance evaluation; and training in a range of administrative areas.
