Inspiring our young scientists

24 January 2019

This week, Biotext will be helping to inspire the next generation of science students.

Each year, the National Youth Science Forum brings together Year 11 students with a passion for science in a 12-day residential program. The program is designed to give students a broader understanding of the diverse study and career options available in science, technology, engineering and mathematics and to encourage continued studies in these fields. The students, from around Australia, come to Canberra to take part in workshops, listen to lectures, and visit labs and facilities.

Students at the January 2019 program will be hearing from one of Biotext’s science editors. Dr Darren Goossens will be talking about our work in writing complex scientific and technical material, developing websites for scientific subjects, and training people in scientific writing and data visualisation. Students will also hear about a bonus subject, as Darren was previously a research scientist and will also be talking about life in a university.

We wish the students all the best in the program and their future careers!
