A part of why Biotext excels in science communication is because our writers and editors are experts in both – science and communication. Some projects – such as rewriting and editing grants for researchers at the Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute – depend on these two areas of expertise more than others.
We’ve been working with the Baker Institute since 2013, helping its researchers reorganise and shape their research grants to highlight their main messages, reduce repetition (important when you are dealing with strict page and word counts), and ensure a balance of technical and plain-English language.
In 2019, we worked with Professor Meikle on his Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF) grant. He said:
‘Thank you for your editing of our MRFF grant application. I found your reorganisation of the grant sections to be very helpful as were your text edits. Overall this was an excellent job with what was a very complex grant. Well done and much appreciated.’ – Professor Peter J Meikle, Leader, Obesity and Diabetes Program, Baker Institute
The Baker Institute also commented that:
‘The applicants were very happy with the quality of editing and timeliness of response. Please pass on thanks to the team for their exceptional work!’
