Skills: Kirsten specialises in designing complex or technical information for publication. She uses data visualisation techniques to communicate science clearly, and present information in meaningful visual formats. She has more than 15 years of experience in designing, creating and managing publications and other design products, including websites and animations.
Qualifications: She has a BSc in chemistry and oceanography, an Advanced Diploma in graphic design, and is an active member of the Australian Graphic Design Association. She is also a member of the Australian Science Communicators (ASC).
Experience: Before moving to Biotext in 2011, Kirsten was an infographics adviser for the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, and the Director of Shrub Creative. She has also held publication roles at the Centre for International Economics, the Australian Government Department of Agriculture and JP Morgan.
Since joining Biotext, Kirsten has worked on projects of national significance. She has designed reports, journals, growers’ guides, infographics, PowerPoint presentations, brochures, banners, websites and interactive web graphics – some in languages other than English.
Kirsten also has extensive knowledge of advanced publication workflows for print and web output, including WCAG 2.0–compliant accessible content and HTML preparation.
