Richard is a visual information specialist, with extensive experience in science communication, content development, data visualisation and design.

Skills: Richard is a visual information specialist, with extensive experience in science communication, content development, data visualisation and design. He is also a consultant in digital publication workflows and management systems.

Qualifications: Richard has a PhD in new media and cross-disciplinary studies between science and art from the University of New South Wales. In 2003, Richard was awarded the HC Coombes Fellowship at the Australian National University. He is also a member of the Australian Science Communicators (ASC).

Experience: Throughout his career, Richard has worked on a wide variety of science-based visualisation and technical communication projects, including working with some of Australia’s top scientists. In 2010, he studied in residency at the Pearson Laboratory for Cognitive Neuroscience, University of New South Wales, to gain insights into aspects of vision, attention and interaction.

Richard has worked on many large publication projects of national significance with Australian Government departments and agencies, as well as industry and research organisations.

In 2012, Richard’s design of Australia: state of the environment 2011 won a best of show national technical communication award and, in 2013, won an international Summit award for technical communication.
